Dessert for breakfast! Have you had the award-winning gelato at DC’s National Gallery of Art?

Most museums in D.C. aren’t known for their food.

But the National Gallery of Art might just be the exception — because of one frozen, delectable treat.

In today’s edition of “Matt About Town,” WTOP’s Matt Kaufax wakes up to a different kind of breakfast — and talks with the chef behind the creamy craze.

Watch a video of Matt’s early bird taste test:

Acclaimed D.C. pastry chef and gelato maker Gianluigi Dellaccio’s factory, Dolci Gelati, has other locations in the D.C. area outside of the museum. Find them at stand-alone stores in boutique spots around town, or in the aisles of certain supermarkets.

Gianluigi said winter flavors are coming soon to the National Gallery, including eggnog, candy cane, gingerbread and cinnamon! You can see more about the Concourse Café, and learn about the museum on its website.
