Matt About Town: Loudoun Co. comic store hosts free comic book giveaway on Star Wars Day

Loudoun County comic shop hosts free comic book giveaway on Star Wars Day

It’s a sci-fi and superhero lovers’ paradise.

In today’s episode of “Matt About Town,” WTOP’s Matt Kaufax went to a galaxy far, far away for National Free Comic Book Day.

The holiday has been around for the last 20 years, but it’s not often that it occurs on the same day as another galactic milestone — May 4, or Star Wars Day.

For his journey across the universe, Matt went out to Comic Logic, a shop of local fame in Ashburn, Virginia. There, he met with owner Rob Kaylin, who has made Comic Logic a fixture in Loudoun County (and beyond) over the last nine years.

But Matt found a lot more than free comic books on his quest.

Check out his video, where he encounters members of the Avengers, Stormtroopers and bounty hunters from planets unknown. He even found time to interview some Hollywood royalty, linking up for a mission with one of the stars of Disney’s “The Mandalorian.”

Comic fans will get another opportunity to share the love on May 19, when Comic Logic hosts LotCon. The fan fest will see the comic book community take over the Ashburn Plaza to celebrate this art form that transcends generations.

“Matt About Town” airs every Tuesday and Thursday on WTOP at 7:45 a.m., and runs throughout the rest of the day on 103.5 FM. His video pieces are always posted on wtop.com.
