WATCH: Survivor of lightning strike near White House shares story

The woman who survived a lightning strike near the White House that killed three others earlier this month has shared her story.

Amber Escudero-Kontostathis told NBC Washington that she was not sure why she pulled through, but she definitely is “not going to waste my second chance at life.”

Brooks A. Lambertson, 24, of Los Angeles; James Mueller, 76; and Donna Mueller, 75, died after they were struck by lightning in Lafayette Park during a storm on Aug. 4. The Muellers were a retired couple from Janesville, Wisconsin, in D.C. for their 56th anniversary.
