VIDEO: All that political tension in DC? ‘Everyone’s hangry,’ AOC says

Bemoaning the lack of bodegas and acceptable options for her favorite morning meal, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez throws breakfast in D.C. some serious shade.

In an episode from Showtime’s “Desus & Mero,” the Democratic congresswoman from New York said it’s “impossible” to get a good bacon, egg and cheese sandwich in the District, and jokingly conflates that perceived void with the partisan fighting on Capitol Hill.

“I don’t know how anybody eats in Washington, D.C., which probably explains why everyone’s fighting all the time,” she said just after the two-minute mark in the video. “Everyone’s hangry.”

Look, I get that D.C. isn’t her native New York — which is for the best — but AOC is clearly not looking in the right places. Right here on WTOP, we got our annual Top 10 of D.C. lists: Here are 2019’s Top 10 best brunch spots chosen by our readers and listeners. (It’s 24-hour brunch coverage over here.)

If anything, food is one of the few galvanizing forces in this city, so it seems AOC’s real gripe is that her precious bacon, egg and cheese isn’t within walking distance of her home or office. Maybe GrubHub or DoorDash could help a sister out?
