WATCH: Hogan, Alsobrooks face off in only debate ahead of Maryland Senate vote

Democratic candidate and Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and Republican candidate and former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan met Thursday in the first and only debate ahead of a critical Senate race next month in Maryland.

The debate, hosted by Maryland Public Television (MPT), took place Thursday afternoon, but it was broadcast statewide on Thursday at 7 p.m. and filmed in Owings Mills, outside Baltimore. It was moderated by chief political analyst for NBC News, Chuck Todd, and paneled by local reporters and journalists.

Hogan and Alsobrooks are running to succeed Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin, who is retiring.
