Scientists discuss gravitational waves discovery

In 2015, almost 100 years to the day when Albert Einstein predicted the existence of gravitational waves, they were finally discovered.

Now, in 2023, the astronomy community reports a major discovery: Scientists have evidence that low-frequency gravitational waves — changes in the fabric of the universe created by massive objects moving around and colliding in space.

The National Science Foundation addressed the discovery in a news conference with NANOGrav, the research collaboration that published the results in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.
