The American Boychoir, based in Princeton, NJ.,is regarded as one of the best vocal ensembles of its kind in the world and will perform a FREE concert Wednesday, December 4th, at 7pm.
This special performance, which will be held at the Temple of the Scottish Rite, ushers in the holiday season and includes songs from the release of the Boychoir's new recording "I Hear America Singing", inspired by Walt Whitman's iconic poem of the same name. In honor of the 100th anniversary of Benjamin Britten's birth, the American Boychoir will also perform Britten's beloved "Ceremony of Carols" as well as holiday selections by Brahms, Mendelssohn, and Rutter and traditional favorites. The concert has been made possible by the generous support of the Freemasons of D.C. and the Alexandria Harmonizers. The Temple of the Scottish Rite is located at 1733 16th Street NW (near the intersection of Sixteenth and Columbia Road). Mix the Redskins & Dallas with a holiday the following day and you have a prescription for fun! But Andy Duffy wanted to be sure so he came up with a promotion for his Duffy's Irish Pub across from the 930 Club.. and it worked.. he filled the place. His offer?? "Everyone wearing Skins gear gets a free shot of Jameson each time Tony Romo throws an interception!" There was only one, but the shots went over very well with patrons David and Sabrina Poms of Bethesda. They are brother and sister who have been Skins fans since birth. Their father was so obsessed with the team that before Super Bowl XXVI he bought both toddlers Redskin Onesies. Of course, the Skins won that year beating the Bills 37-24. He was not bullied but the 16 year old Churchill HS sophomore star athlete suffered depression triggered by a sports injury. He killed himself in May. Proceeds from UMTTR will support forming the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Positive Coaching Alliance and to Support Research on Teen Depression and Suicide Prevention.
