ARLINGTON, Va. - A high school coach is hospitalized, after a rattling encounter with a poisonous snake in his home Monday morning.

Andrew Bacas, a crew coach at Yorktown High School, was at his home on Venice Street when a rattlesnake slithered out of his athletic bag and bit him on his palm.

The snake, a juvenile Canebrake rattlesnake, likely got into the bag during the man's recent visit to South Carolina, officials say.

Emergency responders used a fire extinguisher to freeze the snake, which was taken to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.

Bacas was taken to the hospital for anti-venom treatment. He is expected to fully recover.
