Case in point is the the 10th Annual Mother/Daughter Afternoon Tea and Fashion Show, highlighting Lilly Pulitzer fashions from the Pink Palm Bethesda Row, at the Fairmont Washington DC Hotel

Blessing of the Seersucker!

As The Rev. John Beddingfield, rector of All Souls Memorial Episcopal Church, wrote in the 'All Souls Weekly': "Since this is also the first Sunday after Memorial Day, at All Souls, we also take a lighter approach to giving thanks for the material world and celebrate the beginning of summer with our Third Annual Blessing of the Seersucker. This brief service is our take on the "kirking" or blessing of the tartans, celebrated by Washington National Cathedral, the City of Alexandria, VA, and others. While tartans may represent ancestral links for some, we think that seersucker might better represent our clan, especially as we struggle through a hot D.C. summer and still try to look nice." Thoughts of Memorial Day

from performers and producers of the National Memorial Day Concert live from the West Lawn of the US Capitol televised on PBS tonight (Sun 5/26) at 8:00pm. Among the performers Chris Mann from The Voice and The newly crowned winner of the 12th season of "American Idol," Candice Glover But there is a lot more than than glitz, for instance the haunting story of twin brothers who joined the National Guard just two weeks before 9/11, never suspecting that they would fight in two of the longest wars in America's history. And of course remembering the fallen and the forgotten. This year is the 60th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice and the broadcast will honor the profound sacrifices of the proud veterans those who fought and died in what has been called "the forgotten war."
