And those winners are members of The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team. It's a team comprised solely of veterans and active duty service members who have lost limbs while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. They really cleaned the clocks of the so-called "DC Celebrity All Stars."

U Street on its toes

Back by popular demand, The Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble returns to DC on Saturday, April 7th at 7:30 PM at the historic Lincoln Theatre presented for the second consecutive year by The Laurel Fund for the Performing Arts founder/president Elvi Moore. The twelve member troupe, with pianist, will also conduct two master classes and a special afternoon performance at THEARC for the residents of Wards 7 & 8.

The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team comprised of veterans and active duty service members who have lost limbs while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan will take on the DC Celebrity All Stars such as DC Mayor Vince Gray; Jack Evans, D.C. council member for Ward 2; NFL Hall of Famer Darrell Green of the Washington Redskins; to mention but a few.

He's only 8 and has already written a best seller!

But it is a book with a purpose, My Seizure Dog" by Evan Moss who needs a service or seizure dog to give the young man from Alexandria some freedom and his parents some rest. One or both parents have been with him every minute since he was first diagnosed with Epilepsy at four months of age. Evan's book became No.1 on Amazon's Bestseller List of Children's Health books.

It was a Happy 25th!

The Leukemia Ball celebrated it's 25th on Saturday and raised a lot of money. Two thousand people dressed to the 9's made merry in the Washington Convention Center while Sindbad created laughter and Foreigner created Rock n Roll to help fight blood cancers.

Arena is golden!

Thanks to generous donors and people who attended the Arena Stage Golden Gala: A Glittering Evening of American Musical Theater. It was at the Mead Center for American Theater to celebrate the vibrancy of the performing arts in D.C. to benefit Arena Stage's Community Engagement programs which directly touches the lives of 20,000 youngsters in our area.

At George Washington's Distillery & Grist Mill that's where! This week master distillers from Scotland have been using 18th century techniques to distill a Scotch-like spirit. After three years of aging in American Oak casks according to the Scotch style, a limited edition of one hundred of the bottles -- marking the 100th anniversary of the Scotch Whisky Association--it will be sold for charities around the world. All of this made possible by Mount Vernon Estate, and the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.

The biggest $$$ making music act in the world is visiting DC

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the gift of Cherry Blossom trees from Tokyo to Washington, DC, as a symbol of friendship between the US and Japan, Japanese Pop Idols AKB48 are here for their first-ever trip to DC. The visit includes two performances at the Lincoln Theatre on March 27th, as well as this visit to Strong John Thomson Elementary School in the District (on March 26th), all part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
