WASHINGTON - D.C. Councilmember Jack Evans has joined the ranks of Elvis Presley, Willie Mays and Homer Simpson.

He now has his own bobblehead.

"I'm giving them out to select people." Evans tells WTOP.

Evans' bobblehead has him sporting a black suit and a black and white striped tie.

The likeness is pretty good, although the bobblehead has more hair and fewer wrinkles than the real Evans.

Evans went through three prototypes before approving the final draft. The first version - which has Evans in a red tie - was a bit too chubby and looked more like Dick Gephardt.

Evans had 100 of the 7-inch tall statues created at a cost of about $2,000.

He says his campaign picked up the tab.

One of the first in line to pick up one of the collectors items was WTOP Political Analyst Mark Plotkin, who never misses out on a freebie.

"I'm very worried about a cult of personality developing amongst the second most deliberative body in our city," Plotkin said while clutching the trophy like statue.

"I'm terribly concerned that this will turn into something of epidemic proportions knowing the vanities and insecurities of our elected officials. And that's all I'll say."

No word if other councilmemembers plan on following Evans' lead.
