WASHINGTON - For the last 10 years people have been collecting the U.S. Mint's commemorative state quarters. D.C.'s commemorative quarter comes out Jan. 26.
It will be followed by quarters of the five U.S. territories.
The 50-state series was the most successful in the Mint's history, with 147 million people collecting them.
But don't look to make a fortune on them just yet.
"It might take a number of years for these things to become rare," says U.S. Mints spokesman Greg Hernandez.
A complete set of quarters can be collected for $12.50, and that's exactly what they are worth right now.
