Police Arrest Top Leader of Pagan Motorcycle Club

May 10, 2007 - 6:45am
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Police have arrested a 66-year-old Hagerstown man they describe as a senior member of the Pagan Motorcycle Club on charges of illegal possession of weapons and explosive devices.

Armed with a warrant, state police say members of a task force of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies went to Jay Carl Wagner's home Wednesday morning.

Before entering the home, they deployed a robot to check for booby-traps or other hazards. Inside, they found more than 20 firearms, including handguns and rifles, improvised explosive devices and large amounts of ammunition.

Because of prior convictions, Wagner is barred from possessing such weaponry.

State police say the raid was part of an ongoing investigation of the Pagan club.
