It happened after Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora, Colo., and now Sandy Hook: People figure there surely were signs of impending violence. But experts say predicting who will be the next mass shooter is virtually impossible _ partly because as commonplace as these calamities seem, they are relatively rare crimes.
Gun sales have increased in the wake of the Connecticut shootings that gave rise to talk about new guns restrictions. And Friday morning, business was brisk at local gun shops in Virginia.
At 9:30 a.m. Friday, places of worship will ring bells for the lives lost in Newtown, Conn.

At the very start of their lives, the schoolchildren are remembered for their love of horses, or for the games they couldn't get enough of, or for always saying grace at dinner.
