Hope is alive
Some people need hope, some people have hope, some people share hope and sharing is what the Hope Life Centre in Upper Marlboro is all about. The organization just held it's first benefit charging only $10 for an evening of gospel music, comedy, magic, and dance performances.

The tranquil sounds of tiny strings will return to the Lake Anne waterfront for the 3rd Annual Ukulele Festival this Saturday, July 14th from 11:00 am-5:30 pm in the heart of historic Reston. The free music festival will feature performances by several internationally known and local ukulele musicians, music demonstrations, open to the public jam session, beer garden, festival vendors, and other family friendly activities.Returning to headline the festival this year will be popular Baltimore-based ukulele aficionado Victoria Vox, who performed at the festival in 2010. They are off to another great start
The World Team Tennis Washington Kastles clinched their 17th consecutive victory Monday night. It was a 22-18 win on the road against the Orange County Breakers. Earlier that same evening it was the season Kastles Kick Off party in downtown DC! The WTT season is only a couple of weeks thru July 29th. This Thursday night is the home opener at Kastles Stadium at The Wharf on the South West Waterfront.
A graduating class with class
They are known as the 88's. The 88th DC Central Kitchen Culinary Jobs Training Class. As they say on the DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) Website: "Solving the immediate problem of hunger is only fighting half of the battle. That's why, in addition to the food recovery and distribution program, DCCK addresses the root causes of hunger with its Culinary Job Training program. The goal of the program is to prepare unemployed, underemployed, previously incarcerated persons, and homeless adults for careers in the foodservice industry."
