Manassas Man Charged With Selling Machine Guns

December 21, 2007 - 8:52am
MANASSAS, Va. (AP) - A Manassas man has been arrested and charged with keeping and selling machine guns and other unregistered weapons.

Federal prosecutors in Alexandria say Christopher Compton, 41, was arrested Thursday without incident.

Undercover agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives say they purchased four unregistered machine guns from Compton in April at his previous home in Ashburn. Compton allegedly told the undercover agents he had manufactured and converted the weapons.

Again this month, undercover agents say they met Compton at his home in Manassas and purchased two unregistered machine guns, an unregistered short barrel rifle and an unregistered silencer.
