Mary DePompa

Traffic Reporter

WTOP Traffic Reporter, Mary de Pompa has a great understanding of the D.C.-area gridlock, being a third-generation Washingtonian.

She most recently comes from a five-year tenure at the XM Traffic Center, where she acted as both a reporter and producer. Her duties as an XM producer included being an Emergency Alert Specialist for the nation, monitoring severe weather and life threatening events. While working as a reporter at XM, she branched out into the music end of the spectrum. She developed and produced her own weekly music program.

Her broadcasting career began at the local country station WMZQ. Before jumping into radio, Mary was an award-winning, touring musician/singer songwriter/audio producer, recognized by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). She received multiple awards from the Songwriters Association of Washington (SAW) and the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA).

As a touring musician, she understood the frustrations of dealing with traffic in just about every major market in the USA. She believed that traffic reporting would be a natural transition after spending so much time on the road.

When she is not monitoring the traffic conditions of the Metro area, Mary just loves being a Mom with her family in Clifton, Virginia.
