Launched in 2004 and published in print six times a year, Bethesda Magazine covers the topics that are interesting and important to residents of Montgomery County and Upper Northwest D.C.—from restaurants, real estate and home design to pressing community issues and local people making a difference. Bethesda Magazine also hosts several signature events, including the Best of Bethesda party and the Women Who Inspire luncheon

Our digital newsroom has had several names since it was launched in 2014—Bethesda Beat, MoCo360 and now Bethesda Today. Since the start, we’ve been the primary source of local news in Montgomery County. Publishing an average of 35 stories a week, we deliver trusted, timely and in-depth reporting. Whether it’s holding our elected officials to account, ensuring transparency in our schools or reporting breaking news with clarity and urgency, we’re committed to journalism that informs, connects and strengthens our entire county.

Our Mission

Everything we do is driven by our mission: to inform, connect and inspire Montgomery County through trusted journalism. We cover the issues that matter most—from education, public safety, and transportation to housing, politics, dining and the arts.

This mission is powered by our readers—a growing community built on the idea that informed residents create stronger neighborhoods, better schools and a more responsive local government.

Recognition

In 2025, Bethesda Today was recognized for its work in 2024 with 11 awards from the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association, including News Organization of the Year in our division. From pre-election coverage and education reporting to breaking news and arts journalism, our team was honored for work that reflects the breadth and depth of issues that matter to Montgomery County.

Writers have received recognition for their stories published in Bethesda Magazine over the years, including awards from the American Society of Journalists and Authors and the Society of Professional Journalists.

What Our Community Values

In a time when local news is disappearing, our readers are helping to grow something essential: a trusted media source that puts community first. Bethesda Magazine and Bethesda Today are where Montgomery County turns for the stories that inform, connect and inspire us all.
