LaDawn Black joined WTOP News in December 2025 as a digital writer and editor.
She is a multimedia journalist and storyteller with a background spanning radio, television, and online news. Outside of WTOP, LaDawn is a freelance arts and culture writer for The Baltimore Banner, where she covers Baltimore’s creative community through features, interviews, and digital companion content. Her writing has also appeared in Essemce, Glamour and Cosmopolitan, along with contributions to national television programs. LaDawn is known for her clear, engaging writing style and her ability to bring cultural, lifestyle, and community-driven stories to life for wide audiences.
LaDawn’s broadcasting experience spans more than 15 years, including as an on-air host, producer, and lifestyle commentator for outlets such as WBLS in New York, FOX45 Baltimore, and Urban One in D.C. and Baltimore. She has led top-rated radio programs, produced multimedia content across digital platforms, and collaborated with newsroom teams on segments, special events, and community coverage.
In addition to her reporting and on-air work, LaDawn has extensive experience in digital strategy, helping brands and public figures shape their messaging, build audience engagement, and strengthen their presence across web, social, audio, and video platforms.
