Anna Gawel

Producer

Anna Gawel has spent much of her career as the managing editor of The Washington Diplomat, which has been the flagship publication of D.C.’s diplomatic community for over 25 years.

She’s had more than 250 articles published on world affairs, U.S. foreign policy, politics, security, trade, travel and the arts. She’s also profiled dozens of ambassadors and written about a range of topics, from the impact of budget cuts on the State Department to Caribbean efforts to fight climate change.

She recently began Global 360, a webcast that breaks down the international headlines of the day, and she’s been tapped to speak as an expert on foreign affairs for think tanks and outlets such as SiriusXM’s POTUS Channel.

While she’s specialized in print, Anna majored in broadcast journalism at the University of Maryland and began her career with stints in radio and TV.

She’s excited to be returning to her radio roots at WTOP, especially because she grew up in the area.

In her spare time, she does what every other Washingtonian does — obsess over politics. But she also enjoys trying out new restaurants in D.C. and traveling the world with her husband (a fellow Terp!).
