Alicia Abelson firmly believes that journalism should be ethical and balanced and that New Haven style pizza is the best pizza in the United States.
She was barely out of her preteen years before starting her career in journalism as a freelance columnist for her local community newspaper in Connecticut. In December 2017, she graduated from American University with a degree in broadcast journalism and a focus in political science. Before joining the WTOP news team, Alicia worked as a news assistant for WMAL, interned with DCW50, and participated in the Online News Association’s Student Newsroom and Innovation Lab.
Some cool facts about Alicia include that she grew up in an apple orchard, can do a backflip, and has the same birthday as Elvis Presley. In her spare time, you can find Alicia playing soccer with friends or perusing the bookshelves at Capitol Hill Books in Eastern Market.
