2016 NFL Week 4 Recap

Vikings 24 Entering this game, Eli Manning had a career passer rating of 54.8 in seven starts against Minnesota with only five touchdowns and 14 interceptions (five of which were returned for touchdowns). Monday night was no better. Considering the Vikings beat the last two league MVPs (Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton) by sacking them a collective 13 times, it’s time to start mentioning the Vikes D among the league’s elite. Browns 20
Redskins 31 This game was a perfect microcosm of the current state of the ‘Skins defense: They get gashed for 163 yards, but force three straight Browns turnovers — including an NFL-best 20th fumble recovery since the start of last season — to pull out the win late in the game. And Josh Norman isn’t Washington’s only answer to Odell Beckham — Jordan Reed notched his 200th career catch in his 38th game, the fastest a tight end has reached that mark in NFL history. Reed is currently making a case for the title of best TE in the game.   (Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty Images)

Raiders 28
Ravens 27 Derek Carr came cross country to lead his sixth game-winning drive for Oakland since the start of last season, but this isn’t necessarily a good thing, Raider Nation. This means your defense is a liability.   (AP Photo/Nick Wass)

Seahawks 27
Jets 17 Take notes Seattle. You’re 13-0 when Russell Wilson throws for 3+ TDs. Given the injuries at running back, just let Russ be Russ. Unfortunately for the Jets, Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown a whopping nine interceptions in his last two games and is just the fifth player in the last 30 years to have 10 picks in the first quarter of the season. Perhaps they should seek actual divine intervention before coming to Pittsburgh next week…   (AP Photo/Bill Kostroun)
HOUSTON, TX - OCTOBER 2: Will Fuller #15 of the Houston Texans returns a punt for 67 yards and a touchdown as Tennessee Titans defenders pursue in the third quarter during the NFL game between the Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on October 2, 2016 in Houston, Texas. Titans 20
Texans 27 Will Fuller almost singlehandedly won this game, becoming the first Texans player to score a receiving TD and punt return TD in the same game. Considering the Redskins traded out of the 21st overall pick to select the currently injured Josh Doctson, ‘Skins fans will be keeping a close eye on Fuller’s progression.   (Photo by Bob Levey/Getty Images)

Patriots 0 Even if Rex Ryan expected to win this game (I also picked the Pats to lose this game before the season), you can’t dismiss the historical significance of this victory: It’s New England’s first home shutout loss since 1993 and Buffalo’s first road shutout in 26 years. Count this as additional fuel on the Patriots’ already burning fire of vengeance.     (Photo by Jim Rogash/Getty Images)

Falcons 48 Carolina went from having a first class defense to the first unit in NFL history to allow a 500-yard passer and 300-yard receiver. Yeah, they don’t miss Josh Norman…     (AP Photo/Rainier Ehrhardt)

Lions 10
Bears 17 The winds of (QB) change are blowing in Chicago: Brian Hoyer’s second straight 300 yard, 2 TD game without an interception (and, you know, actually winning a game) makes him the default choice to keep the starting QB gig. Buh bye, Jay Cutler.   (AP Photo/Charles Rex Arbogast)

Broncos 27
Buccaneers 7 I guess lightning does strike in the same place twice…there was a weather delay in Tampa for the second straight week and for the second time this season, Denver won with a QB that hadn’t previously thrown a touchdown pass. No wonder John Elway is trolling his own fans.     (Photo by Brian Blanco/Getty Images)

Rams 17
Cardinals 13 This game was my personal hell: Jeff Fisher has the 3-1 Rams off to their best start since 2006 and my Super Bowl pick turned it over three times in the 4th quarter and have 10 turnovers in two straight losses to fall to 1-3.   (Photo by Norm Hall/Getty Images)
SANTA CLARA, CA - OCTOBER 02: (L-R) Ezekiel Elliott #21 and Dak Prescott #4 of the Dallas Cowboys celebrates with teammates after a rushing touchdown during the third quarter against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium on October 2, 2016 in Santa Clara, California. Cowboys 24
49ers 17 Dak Prescott is the first Cowboys rookie QB to win a game despite being down at least 14 points and fellow rookie Ezekiel Elliott leads the NFL with 412 rushing yards this season. Considering Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith were first round picks in separate drafts (1989 and 1990, respectively), Dallas may have lucked their way into their best single season draft haul (in terms of skill position players, anyway).   (Photo by Thearon W. Chiefs 14
Steelers 43 On a night when Le’Veon Bell returned to the lineup and Kevin Greene was honored at halftime, Ben Roethlisberger stole the show with his fifth career 5+ TD game to up his home record in primetime to 18-3 all-time. Apparently, the Steelers’ lack of touchdowns in Philly last week was so they could score them all on the Chiefs to keep Andy Reid winless in four career trips to Pittsburgh.   (Photo by Joe Sargent/Getty Images)

Jaguars 30 Jacksonville got everything they wanted in London, and now that they have a string of seven straight winnable games, it’s time for a Jaguars turnaround. And somebody save poor Andrew Luck…after getting sacked a career-high six times, Indy’s offensive line is literally taking years off his life.   (AP Photo/Tim Ireland)
