For two years, Matt has been thrilled to be the host of WTOP’s twice-weekly slice-of-life feature segment “Matt About Town.” From a small audience of hundreds, Matt is honored to have built a loyal community of millions of incredible viewers and listeners, many of whom are often the inspiration behind the stories he covers.

“Matt About Town” has become known for spotlighting the interesting people, places, events, and other phenomena of the capital region in a way that audience members can’t find anywhere else. Whether you listen to “Matt About Town” on WTOP’s airwaves or have seen Matt’s viral social media videos online, you’re sure to learn something new every time—often with a fun or whimsical twist!

Matt has been honored with two Capital Emmy award nominations for his on-camera work, including a nomination for his popular “Obscure Monuments” series. For his work in radio, Matt has won three Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and has achieved three 1st place Chesapeake Associated Press Awards finishes, including “Best Reporter” in 2025.

Born in D.C. and raised in Alexandria, Matt believes every pocket of our nation’s capital has an important story to tell, and he’s grateful that the community he grew up in trusts him to handle their stories with care when sharing them with the world.

An alumnus of Syracuse University, Matt is a rabid Orange sports fan, particularly Syracuse basketball.

In his spare time, you can find him at the movies (he’s an avid film watcher and Letterboxd enthusiast) or working on his tennis game.
