Joan is a Freelance Assistant Editor at WTOP.

Joan completed her Master’s of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and Public Affairs at American University in Washington, D.C., where she reported from the Supreme Court and Capitol Hill. She also wrote stories for American University’s online publication, The Wash.

She grew up in the United Arab Emirates where she worked for CNN International in Abu Dhabi and Gulf News, a local newspaper in Dubai where she was an entertainment reporter. After completing her MA, Joan interned for Voice of America’s “Plugged in with Greta Van Susteren” show.

In her free time, Joan enjoys reading Malcom Gladwell books, getting lost in museums, hiking and playing the piano.
