Meet Coco! The staff and volunteers at the Humane Rescue Alliance are in LOVE with this sweet girl and we know she’s going to steal the hearts of her new family too. Coco came to HRA when her previous owner wasn’t able to care for her, but she’s not letting that get her down. Coco is laid back, easy going, and loves to cuddle up next to her favorite people. Art is a sweet senior who you’d never guess was nine years old! Since arriving at the Humane Rescue Alliance Art has been having a blast running around the play yards and playing tag with the staff and volunteers. After playtime Art loves getting lots of pets and attention. He is still working on some of his basic manners, especially when it comes to showing how happy he is to meet new people, but he’s a smart pup who is looking forward to finding a loving, new home where he can be everyone’s best buddy!
Meet Gigi! Gigi came to HRA as a stray, and has been charming staff and volunteers with her sweet disposition and adorable ears. She may be a bit shy when she first meets you, but don’t let her fool you! Soon enough, she will be nudging your arm looking for pets and love. Gigi is looking for a loving family who will help build up her confidence in new situations. In exchange, she will reward you with a lifetime of kisses and tail wags! Meet Sergio! He’s a high energy puppy who loves everyone he meets. Sergio’s favorite things are getting lots of pets and attention, playtime, and given the chance, he would spend every minute in your lap snuggled up next to you. At just 10 months old Sergio is still working on some of his basic manners but he’s a smart pup and eager to learn. Sergio would do well in a loving, patient home with lots of enrichment. Meet Lovebug! This sweet, 1-year-old girl is ready to convince everyone she meets that she’s worthy of her name. Lovebug has never met a person she doesn’t like and has quickly become best friends with everyone at the Humane Rescue Alliance. As soon as she walked through our doors her tail was wagging, her body was wiggling, and she was leaning in to gets pets from everyone that offered her a head scratch or belly rub. Remy is the sweetest senior pup that loves to snuggle and stay close. He’s energetic and so happy to go on short walks. He loves to play with his toys but is happiest staying at home doing his favorite thing: napping in your lap! At 12 years old, Remy is a smart pup and knows his basic manners. His foster let us know he is the very best house guest and would do well in a calm home, where he can snooze and enjoy a nice, easy routine. As an added bonus, Remy’s adoption fee is waived thanks to Max and Erica Scherzer. Through Aug. 10, they’re sponsoring the adoption fees for all adopted animals as part of their final farewell to D.C.
Meet Rufus! This sweet boy was found as a stray before coming to the Humane Rescue Alliance. He’s a super friendly, 6-year-old pup and warms up to new people and other pets quickly. Rufus is very calm and enjoys short walks and all the belly rubs he can get. He is a BIG boy at 106 pounds, but is doing very well in his foster’s apartment. Rosie is white, violets are blue, this sweet girl is ready to go home with you! Rosie is a one year old pup who has quickly become a favorite of staff and volunteers at the Humane Rescue Alliance. Despite her young age, Rosie is mature beyond her years. Her foster let us know she adores pets and attention and will often rest her head in your lap any chance she can. Understandably, it’s taken Pax some time to adjust to being at the Humane Rescue Alliance. Thanks to our staff, Pax is now doing great and ready to meet his new family! He loves treats, pets, and time outside in the play yards exploring all the new smells. Pax is 9 years old but absolutely not slowing down anytime soon. Once he gets to know you he’s a happy pup when curled up in your lap. And don’t be surprised if he offers you doggie kisses too! Meet Joey! He is an absolute delight and ready to find his family. Joey has quickly become a favorite of many of the staff and volunteers at the Humane Rescue Alliance. He is an energetic, 2-year-old pup and has been working on his basic manners in foster care. He’d do well with a family and other pets in the home that can match his energy and excitement. Meet the darling duo—Mia and Bode! They are 15 years old but don’t let their age fool you. These two still live their lives to the fullest. Mia is the more mellow member of the team while Bode is a bit more of a busy body. Both enjoy getting petted and loved and Bode really loves to be parked in his fosters lap. Both have hearts of gold and they do well with mellow dogs and cats. Mia and Bode are seeking a gentle retirement home where they will be loved and cared for. Delfina came to the Humane Rescue Alliance as a stray more than a year ago, and in rough shape. She’s healthy and ready to meet her match, but continues to be overlooked. Meet Opie! This happy boy enjoys pretty much everything, as long as he’s with you! He’s a 66 pound lap dog at heart and enjoys snuggling up with his foster mom and being showered with kisses and hugs from everyone he meets. Winnie is the best of both worlds. While outside, she loves to spend her time running around and chasing tennis balls, but once she’s back inside, all she wants to do is cuddle up right next to her favorite people. Meet Atlas! This sweet 5-year-old pup just arrived at the Humane Rescue Alliance from a transport partner in Houston, Texas, and we can’t wait to help her find her new family here in DC. Atlas is still settling in but she loves to be around people and explore outside. She’ll need some extra care after testing positive for heartworms but the team at HRA is ready to help and to cover the cost of treatment for anyone who can foster Atlas until she’s healthy ready to be adopted. Since arriving last month as part of a transport from Mississippi, Riley has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite at the Humane Rescue Alliance. In fact, we’re surprised this sweet pup hasn’t found a new home yet. Since he’s no couch potato, this 2-year-old pup will get you up and out, always seeking a game of fetch, a doggie play date or a fun jog. This dog was born to run. Meet Totten! This 3-year-old pup has been through a lot. He was brought to the Humane Rescue Alliance by an animal control officer after being found alone, underweight and with significant hair loss. Princess is a sweet 16 pound gal with a zest for life. She is a senior dog at 11 years old, but isn’t slowing down any time soon. She loves to go for long walks and explore the neighborhood.
