3. Dump big salaries
This is an extension of the RG3 entry; guys like Pierre Garcon ($10.2 million), Dashon Goldson ($8 million) and Andre Roberts ($5 million) aren’t worth their projected salaries and could be gone if they don’t agree to pay cuts. One could also make the case to move on from Chris Culliver ($9.25 million), DeAngelo Hall ($5 million) and Kory Lichtensteiger ($4 million)–all of whom come off an injury-plagued 2015 and could be released without a significant cap penalty.

Cutting Goldson and Culliver would mean replacing half their projected starting defensive backfield from 2015. Even though the patchwork unit played better than expected at times, the ‘Skins can’t rely on the likes of Quinton Dunbar and Will Blackmon. The move I’d love to see (though unlikely) is Scot McCloughan tapping into his ties to the Seahawks and pulling off a trade with his old team that would bring former Hokie safety Kam Chancellor back to Virginia.

5. Get bigger
McCloughan is notorious for loving size. The bigger the player, the better. The Redskins need to build at the point of attack (especially in the middle, i.e.- nose tackle and center). Even if the team doesn’t want a second helping of Pot Roast, they’ll need to draft a space-eating nose tackle and find a center bigger than Lichtensteiger’s 296 pounds.
