8-year-old dies after Prince William Co. ATV crash

WASHINGTON — An 8-year-old died Tuesday after he was in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Prince William County over the weekend.

Franklin Flores, 8, was riding a 2002 Kawasaki Prairie 650 without a parent’s knowledge or permission, around 5:45 p.m. Feb. 18. Franklin lost control of the ATV and hit a tree in the 14900 block of Deepwood Lane in Nokesville, Virginia.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.

The boy was flown to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries on Tuesday.
