WASHINGTON — Montgomery County police are investigating human remains found in a Germantown field Monday.

On Monday afternoon, a person was walking in a field located in the 12600 block of Great Seneca Highway in Germantown when he noticed what he believed were human bones. After police were notified, officers responded and located the skeletal remains.

The initial investigation revealed that the remains were not concealed nor in any type of grave, police said. Also, there were “no obvious signs of trauma to the remains,” police added.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to determine the identity of the remains and the cause of death.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the death to contact them at 240-773-5070. Tips can be left anonymously at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
