PHOTOS: Thai festival set to bring a cultural experience to National Mall this weekend

If you’re looking for a few celebrations to check out this weekend, the National Mall will be transformed into a cultural experience.

The first Sawasdee DC Festival, which means “Hello D.C.” in Thai, will commemorate the 190th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Thailand.

“We are promoting Washington, D.C. through our culture and festival,” said Tanee Sangrat, Thailand’s ambassador to the U.S.

He said visitors will be able to meet Muay Thai masters, get a Thai massage and try a variety of delicious dishes from local restaurants.

“We will bring everything we can about our culture that is fun and exciting and tasty. We’ll have a lot to share on the National Mall,” added Sangrat.

Visitors can check it all out this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
