Meet Whistle!
Whistle is a sweet girl with lots of energy to burn, and she’d love to find a family that can keep up with her. She is a fetch pro! She even knows to drop the ball when she gets back, but first she likes to slide in for some shoulder and back scratches. Whistle is a smart pup who already knows several commands, like “down” and “sit,” and she accepts treats as payment for excellent manners. Although she’s bursting with energy, she is also happy to curl up and cuddle with her favorite people on the couch. Whistle is waiting to meet you!
Learn more about Whistle at www.humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.
Meet RiRi!
RiRi is one of the biggest lovebugs you’ll ever meet! She is so friendly and wants to meet everyone, including other dogs. When she isn’t seeking affection or playing with her soft toys (that she doesn’t destroy), she is fast asleep and could stay in bed all day. She is one of the best cuddlers ever; she’ll even let you pick her up and hold her like a (45 pound) baby.
RiRi is a smart girl, and she knows “sit,” “go potty” and “no” really well. She also knows “go get your toy” if she wants to play. She even learned how to walk/jog next to her biking foster within the first day! She is mostly crate trained and calms down within the first 30-45 minutes. She’s mastering crate training right now, but luckily she is very food motivated, which makes her an eager and quick learner.
RiRi is a delightful, well-mannered lovebug ready to fill your home with joy, affection and endless cuddles. Could she be your new best friend? Learn more about RiRi at www.humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.
Meet Medino!
Medino is a 70-pound dog with the cutest worried face and the most expressive eyebrows we’ve ever seen. We love his resting sad face – even though he’s a happy boy!
Medino is an all-around good dog. Despite his size, he’s a breeze to walk on a leash. He doesn’t jump or get too excited – he just wants to sit close to you and get head rubs. He’s a quiet dog who sleeps through the night, hasn’t had any accidents in his foster home and already follows commands like sit and stay. He’s also a good coworker – happy to sleep or play with a bone while you work. He even helps with “recycling” by shredding cardboard.
Medino is seeking a loving and patient family who can help him feel more confident, especially around unfamiliar things. With some encouragement and treats, he’s already making progress.
To learn more about Medino, visit www.humanerescuealliance.org/dogs.

Meet Shiva!
When we met Shiva, a 7-year-old Shar Pei mix, she was wandering D.C. alone. She was underweight and had a troublesome skin condition. Our medical team nursed her back to health and helped her regain a healthy weight. Although shy at first, Shiva has blossomed in her foster home, revealing just how loving, playful and goofy she really is. She loves the outdoors and lights up on walks. We think Shiva would do best in a quiet home without young children or other animals.
Shiva is a true love who is looking for a soft place to land after a rough go of it. Could your home be the place she’s been longing for? Learn more about Shiva at www.humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.

Big dogs, tiny dogs, senior dogs, puppies, Fernley loves meeting them and matches her energy to theirs, every time. She is an energetic but respectful playmate who would thrive in a home with a canine sibling.
Learn more about Fernley at www.humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.
Meet Storm!
Storm’s foster parents can’t stop singing her praises. They said she’s an absolute pleasure to have in the house — and is one of the most lovable dogs they have ever fostered.
She gets along with other dogs, is potty-trained and can be left alone without a fuss. She’s well-behaved in public places and adjusts well to her surroundings. She’s a dog you can take anywhere — and she’ll fit right in. Storm is also a cuddle enthusiast who enjoys snuggling up to both dogs and people.
Storm is about 20 pounds overweight and with the correct diet and exercise, she can return to a healthy weight of about 70 pounds. The good news is that Storm loves going for walks and getting exercise, so she’s eager to have a guardian who can help her get back to feeling her absolute best.
Are you ready to be the one to give Storm the love, care and exercise she needs to lead a happy, healthy life?
Learn more about Storm at www.humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.
Meet Billy Goat!
Billy Goat is a pro cuddler. He waits patiently for you to sit on the couch, and then he snuggles up close. He loves spending hours cuddled up with his foster parents.
Billy Goat is super good with his crate. He sleeps all night without making a sound or having accidents. Plus, he even knows the command “in” and will happily go into his crate on command.
Inside the house, Billy Goat is a champ too. He doesn’t have any accidents and knows to sit by the door when he needs to go outside.
Billy Goat is smart and loves to learn new things. He’ll sit when you put his leash on, and he’ll sit again before crossing the street. Training him is easy because he’s so eager to please. When you take him for walks, Billy Goat is a strong and confident buddy who stays right by your side. When he’s not cuddling or training, he enjoys playing with toys all on his own. Give him a toy, and he’ll have a blast for hours.
Billy Goat is a well-behaved and lovable companion who will bring lots of happiness to your life. To learn more, visit www.humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.

Despite the challenges he’s faced, Judah’s spirit remains unbroken. He has an amazing ability to get along with other dogs, proving he has a gentle and kind nature. In fact, he’s been nominated as a Volunteer Favorite thanks to his sweet temperament. Also like most hound dogs, he uses his big bark to say hello and when he’s excited — but don’t let that fool you; he’s also a big sweetheart who will cuddle up to you if you let him. He also does well with other dogs and has been observed doing well with children.

While Emmy doesn’t live with any animals in her foster home, she greets other dogs on walks briefly and then is ready to keep walking. She does live with two kids (ages 6 and 10) and everyone gets along great. Emmy’s special smile is actually a cleft palate; this comes with zero medical issues, just a permanent cheesy grin, for the happiest lovebug!
For more information, or to setup a meet and greet with Emmy, visit humaneresceualliance.org/adopt.
Meet Molly!
Molly is astonishingly sweet, loving and desperate to be loved equally. The first time her foster parent took her for a walk, someone passing her on the street looked at her and spontaneously exclaimed, “It’s the baby!” And she is the baby, even though she isn’t quite a puppy anymore.
You’ll see it in the way that she thrills at each new experience and turns her simultaneously lanky and solid body with a goofy balletic pounce. She is eager to play with other dogs but seemingly happiest when sleeping near someone who can pause to pet her occasionally.
She is delighted by stairways and, for reasons still her own, ever so slightly frightened of elevators.
For more information, visit humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.

Scramp won’t settle for a title of “good dog,” he wants to be the “best dog.” He even became a Volunteer Favorite and they shared, “Look at Scramp’s smiling face! When he looks into your eyes he gives you a boost of the feel-goods!”
Scramp is a true people dog, he can be quite fussy and selective around other dogs, (and he likes to chase the felines!) so he needs to be a solo pet but he’s all you need!
If you are looking for a best friend, who will gladly go with you on all the hike in the world, Scramp might be perfect for you! To learn more or to set up a meet and greet, visit humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.
Meet Pluto!
Pluto is a 49-pound planet of sweetness and wisdom. He was in rough shape when a few kindhearted construction workers found him earlier this year and called the Humane Rescue Alliance to take him in. Our medical team took great care of him, and now he’s ready to find his new home.
Pluto is the total package; smart, well mannered, and an absolute sweetheart. He loves strolls around the neighborhood followed by long naps, cuddles, and all the treats. He also enjoys playing with the neighbor dog (his new BFF), so he could be very happy in a home with a canine sibling. He even likes cats, too!
Because he’s had hip surgery, Pluto isn’t the biggest fan of staircases, but he also doesn’t jump on any furniture. He’s a VERY good boy who is house and crate-trained and never barks.
If you’re looking for a loyal, well-behaved, and loving companion, Pluto might be the perfect fit for you! To learn more or to set up a meet and greet, visit humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.

He is a smart boy who has already mastered the commands “sit” and “down,” and would be eager to learn more in his new home.

Meet Calabaza!
Calabaza was found tied to a fence, sad and alone. But since he came into the Humane Rescue Alliance’s care, his tail has hardly stopped wagging, and he has blossomed into one of the friendliest, goofiest, most grateful dogs you will ever met.
In his foster home, he gets zoomies a dozen times per day for the simplest pleasures: toys, treats, fresh water, car rides, his leash and even laser pointers. He is thrilled to have another shot at life and wakes up each day excited to see what the world has in store for him. And once he’s done, he’s ready to crawl in your lap and fall asleep with his head on your shoulder.
Baz is an energetic, athletic, and spunky dog. He would do well in a home where he can enjoy an active lifestyle, and would make a great dog for runners, hikers, or any outdoor enthusiast. He’s smart, too. Baz has learned to respond to his name, is crate-trained, and can sit, stay, give paw and lie down. In public, Baz is an extremely friendly dog. Every new person he meets is greeted by a thumping tail, tippy-tappies and kisses.
Think Calabaza is the pup for you? To learn more about how to set up a meet, visit humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.

Meet Leo!
If you’re seeking a jogging and snuggle buddy in one, then your search is over. Leo is the dog for you. He has quite the fan club here at HRA, as all of our volunteers are smitten with him.
Leo is also dog friendly. He really enjoys their company, and would likely thrive in a home with another dog for guidance, fun and games. Leo has also been introduced to cats, and with proper introductions, he may do well in a home with one. Something else he loves to do is snuggle up with his people. Leo has A+ couch potato skills.
As an added bonus, Leo’s adoption fee is 14% off through Valentine’s Day. Visit humanerescuealliance.org/adopt to learn more.
Meet Snacktime Theodore!
Snacktime Theodore is a lapdog extraordinaire. At times he has bursts of energy, but otherwise he just wants to snuggle on the couch in your lap.
Snacktime’s foster family says he’s extremely curious, and that ice cubes and car rides are his absolute favorite. He also loves to swim. As the name suggests, Snacktime is highly food motivated, which has been helpful in his crate and manners training.
He has met other dogs when he was at the shelter, and he had some very fun playdates with them. And from his limited interactions, Snacktime seems to do well with children. He would love to be adopted by a family that will love him and be patient with him as he settles into your home and heart.

Meet Nomad!
Nomad fancies himself a true cheese connoisseur, well-versed in all varieties from string cheese to Cheez Whiz. Nomad came to the Humane Rescue Alliance as a stray and is still learning to trust people.
He may be shy at first, but once he warms up to you, he’ll be your best friend. And cheese helps!
Nomad gets along well with other dogs and loves to play, but he may do best in a home without young children. If you have a well-stocked fridge and are looking for a lovable companion, come meet Nomad!

Meet Bugs!
We’re suckers for Bugs’ floppy ears and classic puppy dog eyes.
At 4-months-old, she’s an energetic, fun-loving pup who is looking for someone to teach her tricks and take her on adventures. Like most hounds, Bugs lives for sniffing and following her nose, so prepare for lots of quality time together on long, sniff-filled walks.
Ready for fun and games with this floppy-eared cutie? Meet and adopt Bugs at the Humane Rescue Alliance!

Meet Rita!
Rita has never met a person she doesn’t love. She has quickly become best friends with everyone at the Humane Rescue Alliance after being found wandering the streets of D.C. on Christmas day.
As soon as she walked through our doors, her tail was wagging, her body was wiggling and she was leaning in to get pets from everyone who offered her a head scratch or belly rub.
At six years old, Rita is well past her puppy days but enjoys getting outside for walks and exploring. She also likes to say hello to other dogs who are gentle and mellow.

Meet Danny!
Danny is a super sweet and happy pup. He’s friendly, cuddly and a great partner for both walks outside and low-key nights on the sofa at home. He loves people and actually thinks he’s a lap dog. Danny has been enjoying spending time with the other dogs in his foster home, too. For a young dog, he has good manners and would like to continue learning more and showing off just how smart he is. Danny has lots of love to share with a new family.
Do you have a heart and lap big enough for Danny? Learn more at humanerescuealliance.org/adopt.
Meet Huggy!
Huggy came to the Humane Rescue Alliance as a very skinny stray, but he has blossomed into a happy, healthy and goofy pup in his foster home. Huggy will happily snuggle at any opportunity. He enjoys chewing on Kongs and antlers but adores his stuffed animals. He’s been known to take a few stuffed friends on his walks, especially his teddy bear. Huggy already knows “sit,” “down” and “drop it” and would love to continue learning more. He enjoys the company of other dogs and understands polite play-date behavior. He’s still mastering the art of charming cats; he’s pretty sure they could be besties, but he hasn’t met the right one just yet.
