WATCH: Pope Francis’ funeral in St. Peter’s Square

Pope Francis’ funeral took place in St. Peter’s Square early Saturday. He will be buried at St. Mary Major basilica, which is outside the Vatican.

Since his death on April 21, the day after Easter Sunday, thousands of people filled St. Peter’s Basilica to pay their final respects to the first pontiff from Latin America, who laid in a simple wooden coffin dressed in red robes and clasping a rosary.
