Hyundai’s Kona Limited packs luxury into small package

When you think “luxury car,” something huge might come to mind, but what if you took all those creature comforts and threw them into a miniature package from a mainstream brand?

That’s what’s happened with the Hyundai Kona Limited AWD, seen here in Ultimate Red Metallic. Black plastic body cladding around the wheel arches also gives this an off-road and almost Subaru-esque look.

Hyundai calls the Kona a small SUV. It is most definitely small, and others even call it subcompact.

Still, I had no problems getting in and out and the kids did fine in the back. Usable cargo space is at a premium, though.

But, back to the luxury: Goodies include heated and ventilated front seats made of convincing faux leather, a heated steering wheel, premium audio system and Hyundai’s awesome blind spot view feature, which shows a video image of your blind spot right on the dash when you hit the turn signal.

Despite the Limited version having a more powerful engine than a base Kona, the turbocharged four-cylinder power plant did not always give me the instant low-end “oomph” I so deeply crave.

This exact one comes in at just over $35,475 after shipping.

If you don’t need tons of space, enjoy parking with ease and go light on the gas pedal, this Kona Limited might be for you.
