Regardless of what you think of electric vehicles, this one is undeniably fancy.
Prepare to be awed by the inside of this Audi Q6 e-tron Quattro, an electric midsize SUV.
It’s not just the pearl beige interior that garners attention (though that certainly is nice).
There’s a big LED screen for the driver, of course, but there’s also one for the front passenger. That one can show what audio you’re listening to (WTOP, of course), plus the battery charge level and the vehicle range, along with a clock. More important: it allows the passenger to control key functions, as if they were using the main screen. There’s even a “digital curtain” that blocks the driver from seeing the screen and being distracted by videos and the like.
The most random but appealing feature I found is a strip of interior accent lighting on each side of the dash that flashes along with each turn signal.
Outside, this one is painted Plasma Blue Metallic.
Performance-wise, there’s an estimated 295 miles of range in this configuration, per the window sticker. That’s certainly usable mileage, but it’s less than some of the titans in the electric world, which can theoretically get closer to 400 miles or more on a charge.
The power does come on instantly and thoroughly in this one.
While there’s no spare tire included in the price, this one does have run flats, which are an OK substitute, in my book.
The total price here is $76,790, including a $6,800 prestige package.
With all the turmoil swirling around electrics now, it’s more about merit than “mandate.” This one delivers an outstanding driving experience, regardless of how it’s powered.
