Beer of the Week: Burley Oak Aboriginal Gangster IPA

WASHINGTON — If a confrontation with a gangster can’t be avoided, let it be one like this.

Neighborhood Restaurant Group beer director and Food and Wine Sommelier of the Year Greg Engert joins Brennan Haselton to talk about Burley Oak Aboriginal Gangster IPA for the latest edition of WTOP’s Beer of the Week.

Quick facts:
  • Brewery: Burley Oak Brewing Co., Berlin, Maryland
  • Description: Brewed with New Zealand Motueka hops, which present nice lemon-lime citrus notes, followed by a tropical fruit finish. These hops creates a softer bitterness while retaining the bite of an IPA. This batch also features New Zealand Pacific Jade hops, which impart herbal spicy aromas and flavors.
  • ABV: 6.6 percent
  • Greg’s pairing suggestions: Fish tacos, shrimp enchiladas, burritos, roasted chicken and lighter pasta dishes (such as linguini with clam sauce)
