Beer of the Week: Sierra Nevada Celebration Fresh Hop IPA

WASHINGTON — Expecting Santa to leave a lump of coal in your stocking? Who cares, as long as you have a bottle opener for this nearby!

WTOP’s Brennan Haselton is joined by Neighborhood Restaurant Group beer director and James Beard Award nominee Greg Engert to talk about Sierra Nevada Celebration Fresh Hop IPA for the latest edition of WTOP’s Beer of the Week.

Quick Facts:

  • Brewery: Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Chico, California
  • Description: Celebration Ale is one of the earliest examples of an American-style IPA, featuring intense citrus and pine aromas from Cascade, Centennial and Chinook hops.
  • ABV: 6.8 percent
  • Greg’s pairing suggestions: Holiday fare (e.g., ham, roast beef, turkey and stuffing), roasted vegetables and anything fatty and fried (e.g., double cheeseburgers and onion rings)

Editor’s Note: This “best-of” report features Celebration Ale 2017, but the similar 2018 version is now on store shelves.
