Wizards’ Marcin Gortat shaves off mohawk after low-scoring game

WASHINGTON — The mohawk that Washington Wizards’ Marcin Gortat has been sporting this season is no more after the he posted a video Monday where he shaved off the ‘do.

The center hinted that he would shave off the mohawk, and after scoring only two points during the Wizards’ 120-116 loss to the Toronto Raptors, he decided it was time for the hair to go.

On Monday, Gortat posted a video of the shaving, saying “recent performance on the court made me feel like I needed some changes.”

“Today is the day when I will become bald again,” he says in the video. “Let’s do it.”

As Gortat pointed out, he looks similar to his “action figure,” which the team gave out to the first 19,000 fans at the Wizards-Raptors game over the weekend.

Gortat will debut is freshly-shaven head when the Wizards take on the Hornets Monday at 7 p.m. at the Verizon Center.
