Turning Natural, DC attorney general settle wage theft lawsuit

Turning Natural Inc., a chain of juice bars with three locations in the District and one in suburban Maryland, has agreed to pay more than $10,000 in back pay and a $5,000 penalty to settle a wage lawsuit filed against the company in July 2018.

D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine, who filed the lawsuit against Turning Natural, announced the settlement in a press release.

We’ve reached out to Turning Natural founder Jerri Evans and will update this post when we hear back. In its original response to the lawsuit, Turning Natural denied liability for the attorney general’s charges.

The suit alleges that Turning Natural had failed to pay several employees overtime and in some cases failed to pay minimum wage. The suit also said that Turning Natural failed to provide paid sick leave, which is required under D.C.’s Sick and Safe Leave Act.
