One local CEO’s answer to maintaining company culture? Spontaneous dance parties

Chip Paucek thinks one of the secrets to a strong corporate culture may just be found around a mirrored disco ball.

The co-founder and CEO of Landover-based education technology firm 2U Inc. (NASDAQ: TWOU) joined the Washington Business Journal at The Sunset Room by Wolfgang Puck in National Harbor April 7 as the latest guest in our Power Breakfast series.

He touched upon all kinds of stories from 2U’s wild ride to go public in March 2014.

A big topic of conversation is how he works to maintain company culture throughout the process. It’s not easy, given the company’s rapid growth: 2U, which provides online technology to programs at major higher education institutions such as Georgetown University, American University and George Washington University, grew from 98 employees in 2010 to more than 1,000 in 2015.

So how does he keep the fun, inspired culture the company was founded upon? Spontaneous dance parties is just one of the ways he shared.
