Stars acquiring defenseman Tyler Myers from the Canucks, AP source says

The Dallas Stars are acquiring defenseman Tyler Myers in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks, according to a person familiar with the situation.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the deal had not yet been finalized.

It was not immediately clear what Dallas was sending to Vancouver for the 6-foot-8, 229-pound 36-year-old. TSN was first to report the agreement of the trade.

Myers is in his 17th NHL season and seventh with the Canucks. He has one year remaining on his contract after this season at a modest salary cap hit of $3 million.

The Stars were looking to add depth to their blue line and could also still add up front before the trade deadline on Friday.

This move comes after the Minnesota Wild, likely Dallas’ first-round playoff opponent, made a trade for center Michael McCarron on Tuesday night. The Wild also may not be done dealing.
