Pedestrian struck, killed on University Blvd. in Prince George’s Co.

WASHINGTON — A pedestrian died after a SUV hit him in Lewisdale, Maryland, Thursday night.

A SUV driving westbound on University Boulevard struck a man in the roadway near the intersection of West Park Drive a little after 10 p.m. Thursday.

The pedestrian, identified as 39-year-old Victoriano Mendez Hernandez, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators said Friday they do not believe the Hernandez was in a crosswalk when he was struck.

The driver involved stayed on scene.

Police are still working to figure out what exactly led to the crash.
