Man injured in hit-and-run incident in Maryland

WASHINGTON — A man who was parked on the shoulder of the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway near Good Luck Road in Maryland is expected to recover after being struck by a truck Monday night.

Josue Exsau Vasquez, 28, of Washington, D.C., sustained lacerations to his head, arms and legs. He was transported to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center for treatment.

The driver of the tractor-trailer did not stop and has not been located, Maryland State Police say.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m.

A witness on scene told investigators a tractor-trailer drove onto the right shoulder, hitting the rear end of Vasquez’s disabled car before hitting Vasquez, who was standing near his vehicle.

Witnesses were unable to give any distinguishing features about the tractor-trailer to police.

Maryland State Police are asking that anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run contact them at the College Park Barrack as their investigation continues at 301-345-3101.
