Bicyclist dies after crash in Prince George’s Co.

WASHINGTON — A bicyclist was hit by a car early Sunday in Prince George’s County, police said.

Officers responded to a call for a collision at Kenilworth Avenue northbound before Highway 50 shortly after 1 a.m.

Prince George’s County police said they found a male bicyclist suffering from critical injuries in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Police said the driver stayed on scene. They said the accident is under investigation.

DC 295 northbound was closed after the crash. The WTOP traffic team reported that all northbound traffic was diverted to Route 50 eastbound. DC 295 northbound lanes were closed for several hours before they were reopened shortly after 8 a.m.
