Off-duty DC firefighter shot in car; police search for suspect

WASHINGTON — A motorcyclist shot an off-duty D.C. firefighter while he was in his car driving with his daughter in Southeast D.C. on Saturday afternoon.

The shooting happened in the 3300 block of Southern Avenue SE, where the motorcyclist drove up to 44-year-old Cartao Anthony Bost’s car and shot two rounds, NBC Washington reported. The male motorcyclist then sped away.

A D.C. fire official said that the firefighter was shot twice, but he was conscious and alert when taken to the hospital. Officials said his prognosis was good Sunday.

His daughter was not injured in the shooting, NBC Washington reported.

D.C. police continue to look for the suspect who allegedly rode on a black and red motorcycle.

Bost has been with D.C. Fire and EMS for 24 years, officials said.
