Tebow as a professional baseball player?

WASHINGTON — Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow might be calling an audible on his career.

According to ESPN Senior Writer Adam Schefter, Tebow is pursuing a career in professional baseball.

Tebow is currently a football analyst for ESPN, but Schefter reports for the past year he has been working on sharpening his baseball skills and plans to audition for Major League teams later this month.

Tebow last played organized baseball in 2005 when he was an All-State player in Florida and hit .494 as a junior in high school. A focus on football in his senior year of high school paid off and he went on to star at the University of Florida and win the Heisman Trophy in 2007.

The Ravens drafted Tebow with the first round pick in 2010 and traded him to Denver where he played for two seasons. Tebow last played in the NFL with the Jets in 2012.

Schefter notes that Tebow has informed ESPN of his desire to play baseball.
