WASHINGTON —  Police in Rockville, Maryland, are investigating the stabbing of a pregnant young woman Friday.

Around 5 p.m., first responders found the woman who was stabbed at an apartment building in the 1000 block of Rockville Pike, near Wootton Parkway, said a spokesperson with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

The 18-year-old victim was conscious and breathing and had a stab wound in her abdomen. She was taken to the hospital and treated for a superficial wound in her abdomen. A news release stated that there is no indication that the fetus was hurt. Police say that the victim is 32 weeks pregnant.

The suspect fled the scene, and it’s unclear if the suspect and victim knew each other. Preliminary police look out describes the suspect as a woman dressed in all black clothing, wearing a ski mask and gloves.
