Police searching for suspects in Silver Spring motel killing

WASHINGTON — Police are looking for the suspects involved in an overnight killing of a 24-year-old man who was staying at a local motel.

The 911 call came in about 2:30 a.m. Sunday for a disturbance in the parking lot of the Days Inn at 8040 13th St. in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Police said the man left his room and was assaulted by a group of people in the parking lot.

“First responders located an adult male suffering from trauma to his body in one of the rooms,” said Capt. Paul Starks with Montgomery County police.

The man later died at the hospital. Police are withholding details about the victim’s identity pending notification of his family.

Investigators are trying to piece together why the victim left his room in the middle of the night and was assaulted by a group of suspects.

Police are looking for witnesses to come forward with any information in this case.

Starks said the motel parking lot is bordered by condos and apartments and said that residents may have heard or seen something but have not reported it to police.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for anyone with information that leads to the arrest.

Anyone with information regarding this case can contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070, or call Crime Solvers Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

Starks said tipsters can choose to remain anonymous.
