Driver robbed at knifepoint in Takoma Park

WASHINGTON — A driver for a transportation company was beaten and robbed with a knife held to her neck in Takoma Park, Maryland, on Tuesday night.

The Takoma Park police said in a statement that a driver for the company Transporte El Truco was called to pick up a fare in the 500 block of Elm Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. After the passenger got into the front seat, two more men got into the back seat. She was then ordered to drive.

The three passengers soon put on ski masks and a knife was held to the driver’s neck, the police said. They took property from the driver, and the front-seat passenger tried to take the key to the vehicle, punching the driver in the face to make her shift into park so he could remove the key.

All three ran off, but the front-seat passenger returned to take the hand-held radio from the vehicle and throw it, and the key, into a grassy area before running off. The victim called police from the 6800 block of New Hampshire Avenue and wasn’t seriously hurt, police said.

If you know anything about this case, the police ask you to call them at 301-270-1100.
