Washington Spirit adds green to its new 2025 away jersey

Heading into the 2025 season, the Washington Spirit are adding a “shock” to its away kit — a new team color.

The National Women’s Soccer League side unveiled its new “Shockwave” away jersey for its upcoming season. Designed by sports outfitter Nike, it features a solid yellow base and adds two different shades of green — called “Spirit Green” and “Green Strike” — in the sleeve and collar trim. Jersey sponsor CVS Health’s logo and jersey numbers appear painted in black lettering.

The addition of green is new, while yellow was introduced as one of Washington’s new team colors for the 2024 season. According to a news release, the green color enhances the yellow base on the kit and “reinforces the Spirit brand’s reputation for innovation.”

“The ‘Shockwave’ kits symbolize this approach and reflect the positive energy and innovation we aim to embody as an organization, both on and off the pitch,” said Cathy Jerome, vice president of marketing and communications.

The jersey, along with the inclusion of a new team color, is part of a slow rebrand process, which began when business owner Michele Kang took majority ownership of the NWSL club in 2022. For home matches, the Spirit will bring back its black “Blackout” kits that were introduced last year.

Fans can purchase authentic, replica and goalkeeper jerseys on the Washington Spirit Shop website. This year, replica kits will be available in a range of sizes, from XS to XXL in women’s cut and S to XXXL for men’s sizes.
