Meet Leon! He’s a spunky 4-year-old doggo with a big heart and lots of love and affection to give his new family. Leon is the best companion! He’s friendly, cuddly and a great partner for both walks outside and low key nights on the sofa at home. He has great house manners, loves to nap in between play and outside time, is house broken and will give you cues when he needs to go out. Meet Sasha! This 7-year-old gal loves a nice long walk, particularly if followed by a nice long nap. Sasha’s foster let us know she is very curious on neighborhood walks and likes to explore and sniff, but she can also be a bit shy in new situations. Going somewhere in the car? Sasha’s at the ready! She’s a champion car rider and likes to watch the world go by from the window. Sasha also loves enrichment toys full of delicious treats and enjoys spending time with her favorite people. Meet Dupree! This handsome two-year-old pup is ready to run and play all day and to be by your side for life’s adventures. The staff at the Humane Rescue Alliance have been working with Dupree through one-on-one training and enrichment sessions, and he’s already learned how to sit. He’s a super smart pup and a quick learner. In addition to continuing to work on his basic manners, Dupree would enjoy regular runs or hikes and extra enrichment to keep him busy. Meet Bailey and Lola! With this dynamic duo you get it all. Bailey is an adventurous 11-year-old Chihuahua mix who loves being active, going on walks, and playing with her stuffed toys. Her best friend Lola is a bit more mature at 13 years old and prefers cuddling and getting lots of pets and attention. Lola also enjoys walks but her main goal in life is to have a person of her own to cuddle up to every day. Lola can no longer see but she doesn’t let that stop her from exploring and sniffing everything, but she’ll need Bailey and her human friends to help her navigate new areas.

Meet Blinko! This one-year-old pup is an absolute joy. Sweet and friendly, Blinko will try to lick your face with endless enthusiasm and her tail never stops wagging. Blinko was found as a stray in D.C. in rough shape and had to have one of her back legs amputated, but she isn’t letting that slow her down at all. Thanks to the medical team at the Humane Rescue Alliance, Blinko is feeling so much better and ready to find the loving home she deserves. Is this happy girl the one for you? Learn more. Meet Cappuccino! He’s a lively and wonderful senior pup who enjoys spending his time playing fetch, napping, and getting belly rubs from his foster family. At 10 years old, Cappuccino is well past his puppy days, but still energetic and playful. He can be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly and will love you endlessly if you let him. In honor of National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, we’re featuring some of our favorite adoptable senior animals, like Starr, all month long. Starr came to the Humane Rescue Alliance after losing her owner. She’s a super sweet, friendly, 12-year-old pup who just wants to enjoy life with someone who will love her as much as her previous owner did. Meet Odie! This sweet boy was scared and nervous before being found as a stray in DC and brought to the Humane Rescue Alliance. Meet Gigi! Gigi came to HRA as a stray, and has been charming staff and volunteers with her sweet disposition and adorable ears. Meet Lovebug! This sweet, 1-year-old girl is ready to convince everyone she meets that she’s worthy of her name. Lovebug has never met a person she doesn’t like and has quickly become best friends with everyone at the Humane Rescue Alliance. As soon as she walked through our doors her tail was wagging, her body was wiggling, and she was leaning in to gets pets from everyone that offered her a head scratch or belly rub. Remy is the sweetest senior pup that loves to snuggle and stay close. He’s energetic and so happy to go on short walks. He loves to play with his toys but is happiest staying at home doing his favorite thing: napping in your lap! At 12 years old, Remy is a smart pup and knows his basic manners. His foster let us know he is the very best house guest and would do well in a calm home, where he can snooze and enjoy a nice, easy routine. Meet Rufus! This sweet boy was found as a stray before coming to the Humane Rescue Alliance. He’s a super friendly, 6-year-old pup and warms up to new people and other pets quickly. Rufus is very calm and enjoys short walks and all the belly rubs he can get. He is a BIG boy at 106 pounds, but is doing very well in his foster’s apartment. Rosie is white, violets are blue, this sweet girl is ready to go home with you! Rosie is a one year old pup who has quickly become a favorite of staff and volunteers at the Humane Rescue Alliance. Despite her young age, Rosie is mature beyond her years. Her foster let us know she adores pets and attention and will often rest her head in your lap any chance she can. Understandably, it’s taken Pax some time to adjust to being at the Humane Rescue Alliance. Thanks to our staff, Pax is now doing great and ready to meet his new family! He loves treats, pets, and time outside in the play yards exploring all the new smells. Pax is 9 years old but absolutely not slowing down anytime soon. Meet the darling duo—Mia and Bode! They are 15 years old but don’t let their age fool you. These two still live their lives to the fullest. Mia is the more mellow member of the team while Bode is a bit more of a busy body. Both enjoy getting petted and loved and Bode really loves to be parked in his fosters lap. Both have hearts of gold and they do well with mellow dogs and cats. Mia and Bode are seeking a gentle retirement home where they will be loved and cared for. Meet Opie! This happy boy enjoys pretty much everything, as long as he’s with you! Since arriving last month as part of a transport from Mississippi, Riley has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite at the Humane Rescue Alliance. Meet Totten! This 3-year-old pup has been through a lot. He was brought to the Humane Rescue Alliance by an animal control officer after being found alone, underweight and with significant hair loss.
