2019 Pets of the Week: Where are they now?

2019 is nearing an end, and yet another bunch of good dogs have found their forever homes after being featured on WTOP’s Pet of the Week segment.

Here’s a look back at the four-legged pals featured on-air and online this year and where they are now.

Dobie was nervous and withdrawn when he first came to the Humane Rescue Alliance. He was adopted the same week of his WTOP segment by a wonderful family from Mount Rainier, Maryland. They’re helping him continue to build his confidence.

Understandably, Eddie was withdrawn and undersocialized after spending the first three years of his life on the end of chain. This 55-pound pup spent several months in foster care building his confidence and getting comfortable around new people before finding a new loving family to call his own.

Rollo, now named Roger, was adopted just days after his WTOP segment. He’s been working on his basic manners and is adored by his new family.

Sweet Misi spent several months in foster care after her WTOP segment, and finally met her match in March. Her new adopters report that she is a wonderful dog and that they love having her as part of their family.

Bronzite, a sweet, easygoing senior, went to a home with two kids where he can play and spend his golden years.

Sweet Sheba had a severe ringworm infection when she came to HRA. She was adopted shortly after her WTOP segment.

Another sweet senior, Sage, had been withdrawn when she came to HRA. She made incredible progress gaining confidence and was adopted.

The only thing Bingly loves more than tennis balls and peanut butter is his new home. He was adopted the same week as his WTOP segment, and he’s ready for a lifetime of adventures with his new family.

Spotted, wiggly, playful and vocal, Louie came to HRA from Alabama. He was adopted not long after his WTOP segment.

Seven-year-old Max came to the Humane Rescue Alliance when his previous owner could no longer care for him. But he remained upbeat, and was adopted shortly after his WTOP segment.

Allie, a sweet senior girl, also came to HRA when her previous owners could no longer care for her. She was later adopted.

Dunkin came to HRA as a scared, withdrawn stray. He made progress over a few weeks and was adopted.

Mr. Wiggles, a friendly “tri-pawd” from Texas, was adopted by a D.C. family after nearly a month at HRA.

Friendly and fluffy Foxy came to D.C. from Alabama. She made quite an impression on two of WTOP’s own, Will Vitka and Reem Nadeem, and now lives with them.

Bull, a feisty 1-year-old pup, needed an active family that could keep up with his high energy — and he found one! He is living with his new family in Maryland.

Kyle came to HRA from Mississippi full of 6-month-old puppy energy. He was quickly adopted and is living with his new family in D.C.

Athena, a fun and calm 1-year-old, was transferred to a partner shelter in Mississippi.

Gunther came to the Humane Rescue Alliance from West Virginia when his previous owners could no longer care for him. He was adopted.

Seven-month-old Gabby came to D.C. in the wake of tornadoes and severe flooding in Oklahoma. The sweetheart was quickly adopted and is now living in the District.

When Sally was rescued by HRA’s humane law enforcement officers from unsanitary conditions, she was underweight and scared. She’s now living with her new family in Virginia.

Fourteen-year-old Penny came to HRA after her previous owner could no longer care for her. After four months in foster care, she’s living with her new family in D.C.

Jacky and her sister were found abandoned and living in unsanitary conditions before coming to HRA. She is now thriving with her new family in D.C. after being adopted during a “Clear the Shelters” event.

Three-year-old Alonzo came to HRA as a stray. He was adopted and is now living with his new family in Fairfax, Virginia.

Hannah spent a month at HRA before being adopted by a loving family. She now has both dog and cat siblings, too.  

Weighing only 14 pounds, little Crow came to HRA after being rescued as part of a large-scale animal cruelty investigation. He was adopted just one day after his WTOP segment and now lives with his new family in D.C.

Kennedy was adopted just a few days after her WTOP segment, and is living with her new family in D.C.

Pugaa came to the Humane Rescue Alliance as a stray, suffering from heat exhaustion. He is now living with his new family and another dog in Virginia.

After ending up back at HRA through no fault of his own, Apollo finally found his home after more than a month at the adoption center. He is currently living in West Virginia.

Daisy made incredible progress in her time at HRA working on her confidence. She was adopted several weeks after her WTOP segment and is loving life with her new family in Maryland.

Chloe came to HRA fearful and wary of new people. She made incredible progress and was adopted.

The serious-looking but fun-loving Stetson, a former stray, was adopted and is living in D.C.

The playful, snuggable Chocolate was adopted and is living in D.C.

After just a few days at HRA, 14-year-old Chico was adopted and now lives a couch potato life with his new family in D.C.

Harty was a stray who spent nearly two months with HRA. She was adopted in September and now lives in Maryland with her new family. They report that everyone is very happy.

The reserved-but-secretly-goofy Ursula was found as a stray. She was adopted just a few weeks later by a family in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The wiggly, lap-loving Camo came to the Humane Rescue Alliance from a shelter in Mississippi. He is now living comfortably in Maryland, where he has been working on his basic manners.

Maggie’s brown eyes, floppy ears, and sweet personality were irresistible to everyone she met. After only a few weeks at HRA, Maggie met her new dad and is living in Alexandria.

Avaya arrived at HRA with a broken leg and in urgent need of medical care. It required amputation, but Avaya didn’t let that get her down. While at HRA, she became quite the star, and was featured in the Washington Wizards 2020 Dog Calendar. Best of all, she found a new mom and home in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Ralphie came to HRA when his previous owner could no longer care for him. At 12 years old, he was still active but deaf, and he needed a family willing to go slow and give him special care. He found a perfect match and now lives with his new mom in D.C.

Cassandra was surrendered because her previous owners could no longer care for her. After a few weeks with HRA, she now lives with her new dad in D.C.

Rocky came to HRA shy and withdrawn. But in time, he started to show a fun, energetic personality. After a month with HRA, Rocky was adopted and now lives with his new family in Baltimore.

Goldie came to HRA in rough shape, and the medical team has been working timelessly to get her healthy. While she’s recovering, she has become a staff favorite and gets to spend many of her days as an office foster, getting love and attention from everyone at HRA.

Three-year-old Zulu is still looking for a home. This fun, active guy loves attention, treats and playing fetch. If you’re able to help Zulu with his sit-and-stay training and give him the love and attention he deserves, stop by HRA’s Oglethorpe Street adoption center and meet him.

In the weeks since Meg visited the WTOP studios, she has been adopted and has changed her name to Diesel. She now lives the dream dog life with her adopter, who works on a farm. Every day she gets to run around the property, sniff at fresh vegetables and even meet farm animals. Follow her adventures on her owner’s Twitter feed.

After being returned through no fault of his own, Sunny quickly found a new home in Hyattsville, Maryland, where he can spend his time running and playing outside.

Ezekiel found a new family for the holidays. The 2-year-old couch potato now spends his days in D.C. either curled up on a sofa with his favorite people or playing outside.

Turtle was adopted just a day after his WTOP segment. He’s now enjoying life with his new family in Bethesda, Maryland.

Westy is still looking for a home. This shy 3-year-old is blind in one eye due to a neurological issue. But he still loves to play, and he loves everyone he meets. Visit HRA’s Oglethorpe Street adoption center and see for yourself.
